UPDATE: YAY I finally did change my blogger look, and did not end up changing blogging platforms hahaha. Hopefully now I can be more motivated to write regularly, and categorise with more thought so it's more reader-friendly for everyone who visits. Have fun!
Recently, I've been thinking about changing blogging platforms.
I love blogger and how it has served me since 2007 (Yes, since I was in primary 5). I remember when it was the hottest thing back then. Almost everyone had a blog and those who didn't talked about everyone else having a blog. Hot gossip topics revolved around what she said or what he posted. The coolest thing you could do was to pick an awesome theme or template from blogskins for your blog. And the nastiest was to go anonymous and throw shade on someone else's tagboard or chatbox.
But like everything else on the internet, it phased out, and I'd be lying if I were to say my post frequency was as high as it was back then. I still maintain this blog, though. And I still post occassionally. I love to blog and I love to write and I love sharing my content through words. Though now I'm starting to think about bringing my blog to "the next level" and being committed to an even more regular blog routine with more content and cooler features.
So for the past few days, instead of studying for my finals or taking breaks in the form of watching videos as I would normally do, I started to search about other blogging platforms and I signed up for Wordpress and Wix. I did so immediately without much thinking because (1) they're free, (2) I wanted to chope the "izzahaz" username, and (3) I'm just that impulsive and I didn't wanna decide which one I'll be using.
Then I started watching videos on how to customise the website and also make use of internet features like Google searches and SEO. Doing all that catapulted me back to when it was 2008 and every week was spent browsing through blogskins and the general internet for Photoshop tutorials hahaha. That was really a pleasant time. I'm glad I spent time doing that back then because now I'm very confident with Photoshop and I can read a little bit of HTML. (Thanks, Ibu, for raising me to be highly intuitive in the way I learn and do things)
The thing is, now, though, I don't wish to invest as much time as I did back then. Plus I'm getting old so learning curves are always steep (though not impossible to conquer). So the semangat that I have now isn't as fiery as it was back then in P5, and it's actually frustrating to maneuver through hundreds of tutorials and how-to's to make my blog into the way I desire it to be. Then I thought, huh, maybe that's why web developers and designers exist and make truckloads of money. Adults just don't wish to invest as much time learning, because they can just pay another person to do it.
Okay I'm going off-track. What I wanted to say was, nope, I still don't have a new blog (trust me I'm the one who's most frustrated at the lack of a result from all this searching and browsing). But also the possibility that maybe I'll just stick to Blogger after all. I realise that about me. I'm really too attached and loyal to a fault sometimes. Hahaha. So if anyone has any tips on how to make my Blogger more aesthetically pleasing, please don't hesitate to let me know.
