Today was just tiring. Each one of us were beyond exhausted, after handling a whole event for APSN (Association for Persons with Special Needs) all the way in the east, lugging a huge amount of heavy logistics along the way. And all that happened in the early morning, after spending the whole previous day and night scurrying around getting tasks done.
We were beat, and all of us just yearned for our beds and sleep. I knew that, at that particular moment, I wanted little else but to curl up in my room and allow much longed slumber to sweep me away.
So, when Hafeez switched on his favourite nursery rhyme, and I shared why I loved the Fish song, and Ibnur started dancing and singing accurately along to the Indian revamped version of the classic Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Pamm began stomping along to her Indian moves, my heart just swelled with gratitude.
Despite how our very beings were dripping with fatigue, we don't let that become an excuse not to smile, not to laugh, and not to love. It was like a refreshing breath of relief, a breath of joy.
I still find it surreal how I managed to find this organisation, and how it managed to find me, and how it managed to make me find more of myself. It's unbelievable, it's amazing, it's beautiful.
I am eternally, eternally grateful.
